Plastic pallets are durable, lightweight alternatives to wood pallets, manufactured from HDPE or PP through injection molding or structural foam processes. Also popular in closed-loop supply chains, automated warehousing systems, and export shipping (no ISPM-15 heat treatment required). Dynamic capacities run about 1,500-2,500 lbs (nestable) to 2,500-5,000 lbs (stackable); rackable models carry 1,500-2,800 lbs unsupported in a rack and up to 30,000 lbs static, so use the model's own rating.
Plastic pallets have a significantly longer lifespan than wood (often 10+ years in closed-loop systems), reducing per-trip environmental impact. Reclaimed plastic pallets extend this lifecycle further. At end of life, the plastic material is fully recyclable, ground into regrind and remolded into new pallets or other plastic products.

How much weight can a plastic pallet hold?
Ratings vary by model, so use the manufacturer's figure for the pallet in the listing. ORBIS rates its 48x40 XpressPal Economy nestable pallet at 2,750 lbs dynamic and 15,000 lbs static, its XpressPal HD at 4,000 and 30,000 lbs, and its rackable Odyssey HD at 2,800 lbs edge-racked, 6,000 lbs dynamic and 30,000 lbs static.
What is the difference between nestable, stackable, and rackable?
Nestable pallets have legs that nest into each other when empty (ORBIS gives its XpressPal nestables a 2.2:1 to 2.4:1 nest ratio), which suits one-way and export shipping. Stackable pallets have a flat bottom deck for block stacking. Rackable pallets have steel or reinforced runners so they can span a pallet-rack beam at the model's racked rating; ORBIS rates its Odyssey HD at 2,800 lbs edge-racked.
Do plastic pallets need ISPM-15 heat treatment for export?
No. ISPM-15 applies to solid wood packaging only, so plastic pallets ship internationally without a stamp, which is the main reason exporters buy them.
How many plastic pallets fit on a truck?
