PPC's Miniflex Optical Fiber TuffDuct. It is a microduct designed to protect fiber optic cables, suitable for direct burial and other underground applications. Product: Miniflex Optical Fiber TuffDuct® Part #: 10-0010FT Quantity: 3280ft X4 Nominal Size: Ø10.0mm / Ø6.0mm The Tube: It has a 10mm outer diameter and a 6mm inner diameter. The "Wire": This specific model includes a tone-wire (a thin copper-clad steel wire) embedded in the casing. This allows workers to locate the buried duct later using a standard utility locator. The Lining: The inside is lined with a low-friction material (DVC) to make it easy to "blow" or push fiber optic glass through it once the duct is in the ground. What it’s used for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH): It’s the standard "pathway" used to run internet from the street to a house. Protection: It protects delicate fiber optics from being crushed by soil, rocks, or damaged by moisture. Future-Proofing: Once the duct is buried, a company can swap out the fiber inside without digging up the yard again. This can be picked up at my residence
