A like-new plastic crate has been in service briefly, often in a pilot, a cancelled program or overstock, and shows no cracks, no warping and no wear on hinges, latches or nesting corners. Scuffs from a few trips are the most you should see.
It differs from a new crate mainly in provenance: the lot may be an older generation, and resin or food-contact paperwork may not come with it. It differs from used in what still works. Walls lock rigid on collapsibles, lids close and latch on attached-lid models, and stack-nest crates rotate and drop into each other cleanly.
Like-new lots fit best when you are expanding an existing pool and the model and generation match yours. Get the exact model number and a sample before you buy in volume.
