Browse ListingsAbout New Plastic Crates
A new plastic crate is unused and comes straight from the manufacturer in one of three designs: stack-nest, collapsible or attached-lid. It has the full wall and base thickness it was moulded with and the current generation of corner and nesting geometry.
Geometry is the main reason to buy new. Stack-nest crates from different makers, and sometimes different generations of the same model, do not nest reliably together, so a pool that runs on a conveyor or wash line is best built from one production run. New crates also come with the resin and FDA food-contact declarations that a used lot may lack.
Like-new and used lots do the same work in manual handling, where exact nesting and paperwork matter less. Buy new when you are starting or standardizing a pool, need a specific footprint such as 600 x 400 mm, or need documented food-contact compliance.
What to Look For When Buying
- Model and generation match any crates already in your pool
- Footprint that fills your pallet, such as 600 x 400 mm on a 48x40
- Vented walls and base for produce, solid walls for small parts
- Rated load per crate and stacking height from the maker's sheet
- FDA food-contact declaration for resin and colorant if food is carried
Ideal For
- Starting or standardizing a returnable crate pool
- Produce, dairy and bakery distribution
- Automotive and parts kitting loops
- Automated conveyor and wash-line systems
- Food contact that needs FDA documentation
Buying Tips
- Order a whole pool from one production run so the geometry matches
- Pick stack-nest, collapsible or attached-lid by how empties travel back
- Ask for the manufacturer's load and stacking ratings in writing
- Test a sample on your conveyor or wash line before a large order
