A multi-use bulk bag is an FIBC built and labeled to a 6:1 safety factor for multiple trips, meaning it was tested to hold six times its Safe Working Load. Single-trip bags are rated 5:1 and are not designed to be refilled. Multi-use bags can be sold new or already in circulation.
The grade describes how the bag was built, not how often it has been filled. A used bag might be multi-use or might be single-trip, so a multi-use listing is the one where the 6:1 rating is the point of the sale.
A 6:1 rating permits reuse but does not guarantee the next trip. Each bag needs an inspection before each fill for loop damage, cut fibers, UV degradation and soiling, and a bag that fails any of those comes out of service.

- Lift loops and loop stitching free of cuts or fraying
- Fabric supple, not faded or brittle from sun exposure
- Seams and spouts intact with no sifting
- Trip history if the bags have been in service

Not Recommended For
- One-way shipments where the bag will not come back
- UN-rated hazmat loads unless the bag is certified for them
