Browse ListingsAbout New IBC Totes
A new IBC tote is a factory-built unit that has never held product: a blow-molded HDPE bottle, a galvanized steel cage and a steel, plastic or composite base, all carrying the manufacturer's original date and markings. The 275 gallon (1,000 L) and 330 gallon (1,250 L) sizes share the 48 x 40 GMA footprint.
What separates new from rebottled is the cage. A rebottled tote also has a virgin bottle, but its cage and base have already been in service, so a new tote is the only grade where every component starts with no wear and no history.
Buy new when a customer, auditor or regulation asks for first-use packaging, as with many pharmaceutical and food programs. If only the product contact surface has to be virgin, a rebottled tote meets the same requirement.
What to Look For When Buying
- Manufacture date on the bottle and cage matches a current production run
- UN marking on the tote if it will carry hazardous liquids
- Valve thread (2" NPT or 2" buttress) matches your fittings
- Capacity and height fit your racking and stacking clearance
- Bottle resin compatible with your liquid on a compatibility chart
Ideal For
- Pharmaceutical and regulated food first fills
- Customers whose spec calls for first-use packaging
- Liquids where any contact history is unacceptable
- Hazmat shipments needing a fresh UN marking
Buying Tips
- Specify the valve thread and style on the order, since NPT and buttress need an adapter to mate
- Ask for the manufacturer spec sheet and UN test certificate when shipping hazmat
- Choose an opaque or coated bottle for liquids that degrade or grow algae in light
- Check whether rebottled meets your spec before committing to new
