Browse ListingsAbout ACX (Premium Sheathing) Lumber
ACX is trade shorthand for A-C plywood with waterproof glue. The A face is sanded and paintable; the C back allows knots and limited knotholes. Many ACX panels carry an Exterior bond classification, but some are Exposure 1, so the trademark is the check.
Against BCX, the face is smooth enough for paint, labels and printed marks. Against A-C sanded panels from the same mill, it is usually the same product sold under a sheathing name.
For packaging, ACX is the choice when the outside of a crate carries printed handling marks, a logo, or labels that need a flat surface, and the panel must stand up to damp conditions in transit.
What to Look For When Buying
- A-C with Exterior or Exposure 1 on the panel trademark
- A sanded A face ready for print or paint
- C back defects away from fastener lines
- Flatness across the panel
Ideal For
- Crates with printed handling marks or logos
- Export crate panels with label surfaces
- Cases that are painted after assembly
Buying Tips
- Choose Exterior-marked panels for sea freight or yard storage
- Face the A side out for marks and labels
- Use BCX or CDX where no face needs printing
