Browse ListingsAbout B-B (Good Both Sides) Lumber
B-B plywood has B-grade veneer on the face and back under PS 1. B veneer is a solid surface: tight knots, shims and circular repair plugs are allowed, open knotholes are not.
Compared with the A grades, neither face is smooth enough for a paint-grade finish, but both are closed. Compared with B-C and BCX, the back is also solid, so the panel resists puncture and holds contents without gaps on either side.
In packaging, B-B works for crate panels and liners where both sides must be closed but appearance is not the point, and for reusable containers where either face may end up outward.
What to Look For When Buying
- B-B on the panel trademark with PS 1 and the bond classification
- Closed faces on both sides with no open knotholes
- Plugs and patches that sit flush
- Edge voids and delamination on sample panels
Ideal For
- Reusable crates where either face may be out
- Crate liners and bulkheads
- Closed panels for loose small parts
Buying Tips
- Choose it when both faces must be closed
- Step down to B-C when one face is hidden
- Check the bond classification against storage conditions
