Browse ListingsAbout B-C (Good/Utility) Lumber
B-C plywood has a B-grade face veneer and a C-grade back under PS 1. The face is solid with tight knots and plugs allowed; the back can have knots, splits and limited knotholes within the C rule.
Against B-B, only one face is closed. Against BCX, the veneers are the same; BCX names the panel by its sheathing use and bond. B-C is made in Exterior grade, so read the trademark rather than assuming.
For crates and packaging, B-C is a working panel for crate sides and tops where the outside should be closed and reasonably clean, but a printing-grade face is not needed.
What to Look For When Buying
- B-C on the panel trademark with PS 1 and the bond classification
- A solid B face with no open knotholes
- C back defects clear of fastener lines
- Exterior marking for sea freight or outdoor storage
Ideal For
- Crate sides and tops
- General packaging panels
- Bins and utility enclosures
Buying Tips
- Face the B side out
- Choose A-C instead if the face will be printed
- Match the bond classification to the route
